A PLEA
Greetings all,
As music fans, you’ll know that there’s simply no atmosphere quite like that of a live concert experience. Seeing your favourite bands with a couple of mates, screaming until your voice is all but gone and moshing to your heart’s content, it’s an event to look forward to and enjoy no matter what your age.
Last night, a local venue of mine, the Talking Heads, held it’s very last gig, due to financial constraints brought on by the downturn of the British economy. Paired with the Joiners, this venue helped to uphold a rich and cultivated live music scene in Southampton, and saw many a young (and old) band throughout its existence. Although it’s unsure what can be done to save the venue, a petition has been started on Facebook, entitled ‘Save Our Heads’, to aid in an attempt to bring the venue back to prosperity. The petition has already been backed by the likes of Frank Turner and Isle of Wight festival organiser John Giddings, and it would mean a lot to both me and the citizens of Southampton if you could spare the petition a simple like or perhaps share it with your friends. It’s only a matter of time before another local venues faces the axe, and next time it could be yours, so as fans of live music I feel it’s important for us to unite and do our best to help keep live music going strong.
I’ve left a link to the Facebook page below. Alternatively, you can tweet using the hashtag #saveourheads on Twitter if you want to help promote the campaign.
Thank you
Josh
